Maryland
Lower Colonies
1632
Unlike the other colonies like Massachusetts and Virginia, this colony was started by a Catholic, Lord Baltimore. Because Catholics weren't allowed to come to very many colonies, Lord Baltimore wanted to make a place for his brethren. This place was stolen once by a Protestant group, and was restored to the Baltimore family much later, when one of Lord Baltimore's descendants claimed he was Protestant. So Maryland was a Protestant country, and probably wasn't as hated.
Maryland mainly grew tobacco, like Virginia. They planted this plant to sell in Europe, and the popular continent accepted it greedily, along with the tobacco from the other colonies too.
